Movie Review – Orange (3.5/5)
The narration style of this movie is a bit different from the usual. The main character, Ram (Ram Charan), narrates his past love stories out of order. First, he briefly goes over a couple of his innocent love stories. Then he narrates his love with Jhan (Genelia). Towards the end he goes back to his story with Rooba (Shahzahn Padamsee) and finishes with Jhan’s love story again.
The comedy of Brahmi, tension of Genelia and the energy of Charan are marvelous. While the movie is portrayed in the most entertaining way possible, the movie slowed down and lost its tempo once Ram and Rooba’s story started.
Also, while Nagababu played a key role in convincing Ram to reconsider his ideology, his reasoning is not entirely convincing. Actors like Prabhu and Srinivas Avasarala (Ashta Chemma fame) are a total waste to the movie. Manjula played a very minor role; she wasn’t much use in the movie either.
Visualization of songs mostly lived up to the audio. Charan did some good dancing with loads of energy and without any funky steps, gladly.
Scenes note worthy:
1) Truth or Dare
2) Car ride explaining the difference between temporary and life long love
3) Flower pot symbolism
4) Ram feeling the pressures of life long love
The movie tries to convey many messages:
1) Keep love fresh.
2) Honesty is the best policy.
3) Don’t take your partner for granted.
Overall: Decent comedy entertainer with some screenplay and thin story line drawbacks.
