Robo is done; what's next for Shankar? It is surprising to learn that he took up the project to remake Amir Khan's "3 Idiots" simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. Why the surprise? Shankar is a director who delivered sensational movies like Gentleman, Premikudu/Kadhalan, Bharateyudu/Indian, Jeans, Boys, Oke Okkadu/Mudhalvan, Aparichitudu/Anniyan, Sivaji and Robo/Enthiran. For him to distract himself from his streak of wonders and to recreate the work of another director is simply startling.
On the other hand, for a successful director taking up an amazing movie and to remake it for us in Telugu and Tamil guarantees an excellent movie for us. Even better, well know stars are being considered for key roles in the movie. Mahesh Babu in Telugu and Vijay in Tamil are almost confirmed for the role of Aamir Khan. Illeana D’Cruz will be playing the role of Kareena Kapoor in both languages. As for the roles of Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, there are a lot of rumors about who is being considered. In Telugu, Madhavan’s role might be played my Madhavan himself or Arya, who recently made his mark in Telugu with Varudu. For Sharman Joshi’s role, both Siddharth and Jeeva are being considered. If Jeeva is choosen, he will be a new face to the Telugu audience, which might not make the remake the true multi-starrer it can be. In Tamil, Madhavan refused to replay his role; therefore, Srikanth, Arya, Siddharth and Jeeva are being considered. For Sharman’s role, it is likely that either Siddharth or Jeeva might get the role.
Harris Jayaraj will be composing the music. The movies will launch towards the end of December. Whoever is playing the roles of the “3 Idiots”, one thing is for sure: the remake movie will be an excellent multi-starrer movie.
